Release Date Review

Know exactly when you — or your loved one — should be released.

Since the Sentencing Act 2026 came into force, release dates for many determinate sentences have changed. Prison paperwork is not always updated correctly. We give you a written, senior-lawyer re-evaluation of your expected release date against the new law.

Why the free calculator isn't always enough

The calculator gives you a solid estimate for standard cases. But real sentences often involve multiple counts, concurrent/consecutive terms, remand credit, breach of licence, or offences that fall into the SDS+ designated list. Getting any of these wrong can shift a release date by months.

A written review has a senior reviewer read the actual sentencing remarks and warrant of commitment, apply the current law, and confirm the correct date in writing.

What's included

  • Sentence type classified against the 2026 Act (SDS, SDS+, EDS, s.250)
  • Correct release fraction applied (33% EPM, 50%, or two-thirds)
  • Remand and time-served credit checked
  • HDC (tag) eligibility window calculated
  • Licence end / sentence expiry date confirmed
  • Plain-English written explanation you can share with family or solicitors

If the prison's date is wrong

If our review shows the prison has miscalculated, we set out exactly what should be challenged and how — either through the establishment's sentence-calculation team or, if necessary, by escalation. Fixed fee confirmed in writing before any work begins.
