For Families & Loved Ones

Acting for someone inside? You are not alone.

Most of our instructions come from families. We give you a clear, honest, independent review — so you can stop guessing and start making informed decisions on behalf of the person you love.

How it works for families

Four simple steps

  1. 1. Gather what you have

Charge sheets, indictment, sentencing remarks, any solicitor's letters or pre-sentence report. If you cannot find everything, send what you have and we'll tell you what else to request.

  2. 2. Send it to us securely

Upload through the contact form, send by encrypted link, or post hard copies. Everything is treated in strict confidence.

  3. 3. We review and report

A senior UK lawyer or barrister reads every page and produces a written report in plain English — addressed to you, the prisoner, or both.

  4. 4. Share the findings

Send the report to the prisoner via Email a Prisoner, post, or read it during a visit. We can also speak with you by phone or WhatsApp to talk it through.

Practical answers

Frequently asked by families

Can I instruct you on my relative's behalf?
Yes. We just ask that the prisoner is aware and consents — usually a short letter or phone call confirms this. Many of our reports are addressed jointly to the family and the prisoner.
How do I get hold of the court papers?
Your relative's solicitor must provide their case papers on request. If you are struggling, we can give you a template letter and tell you exactly what to ask for.
How do I share the report with the prisoner?
Most prisons accept Email a Prisoner messages and printed post. We deliver the report in PDF so it can be printed and posted, read at a legal visit, or discussed over the phone.
What about confidentiality?
Absolutely strict. We never speak about a case publicly. Documents and data are securely destroyed once the report has been delivered.

Paying on their behalf

Family members can pay the fixed fee directly. We accept card, UK bank transfer, and instalments on request. The fee is confirmed in writing before any work begins — no hidden charges.
